San Bernardino Republican Women are pleased to announce we will have three speakers for the September 12, 2026 meeting at the Elks Lodge. Cali Binks, candidate for San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and Rita Fernandez-Loof incumbent candidate for San Bernardino County Board of Education, Area B will be speaking at the September 12, 2026 meeting of San Bernardino Republican Women. The meeting will take place at the Elks Lodge in San Bernardino, with check-in at 11:00 AM, followed by the meeting from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
Dr. Dale Broome, a diagnostic radiologist, will be appearing as well. Dr. Broome was scheduled to speak at the August SBRW meeting, but unfortunately came down with Covid and was unable to attend. SBRW are happy to hear that he is well again and will be speaking at our September meeting!
Cali Binks: A Trusted Leader with Proven Experience
As a superintendent of 17 years, leading both large and small districts, with a proven record of fiscal responsibility, innovation, and student-centered leadership, Cali Binks knows what it takes to ensure every student succeeds. Her deep roots in San Bernardino County, combined with over three decades of experience championing schools, supporting students, and collaborating with families, educators, and communities make her uniquely qualified to serve as the next San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools.
Rita Fernandez-Loof – Elected to the BOE in 2018
Rita Fernandez-Loof was elected to the County Board of Education in 2018 representing the Area B communities of Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Montclair, Upland and Mt. Baldy. She is currently finishing her second term on the Board and is on the November ballot. She has been a long-time advocate for education particularly, special education and is the proud mother of three daughters.
Rita supports community involvement at all levels of government, school safety, increased career and college readiness for all students, fiscal accountability, and providing educators with the proper tools to close the achievement gap. She believes education is the legacy we leave our children.
Rita came to the U.S. from Cuba at the age of 13 and is the first Cuban-American to serve on the County Board of Education. She has extensive volunteer experience with various non-profits who advocate for the educational rights of children with disabilities. She has led efforts to improve education for children with disabilities and educate parents about their children’s rights. She authored legislation (SB 1327—Soto) to strengthen protections for children with disabilities attending private schools, which ultimately became law with bi-partisan support.
She has been awarded the prestigious “Mother of Achievement” award by the American Mothers Association, the Earth Day Hero Award by California Safe Schools, the Dangerman Hero Award from the Los Angeles African American community, as well as being recognized the United States Department of Education, the California State Senate and the State Assembly. In 2024, Rita was awarded the prestigious Women in Business Award from California Senator Anthony Portantino. Rita holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles and has been practicing in this field for over three decades.
